Strong 4 Life: It's never too late to start exercising! Strong 4 Life is a great way for seniors to get started or to discover new ways to be challenged with strength training. The exercises focus on building total body strength with an emphasis on improving balance, stability, and flexibility. The benefits of strength training include improved bone density, increased balance, and total body strength, which all contribute to greater ease in performing everyday tasks and greater overall quality of life!
WERQ Dance Together: Who doesn't love to dance? WERQ is a wildly addictive, cardio dance class. WERQ Dance Together takes those same moves and creates a low-intensity cardio dance class perfect for ALL ability levels. With a variety of functional movements, you will enhance your footwork while getting your heart rate up. Let's WERQ & Dance Together! This class is intended for those who need a modified WERQ class but still enjoy all the WERQ choreography.
Strength & Stretch: Strength & Stretch is a 30 or 45 minute class of muscle work and relaxation! First, you will tone and strengthen your muscles with light weights or bands. Then you will give your muscles and body the proper stretch it deserves. This class is perfect for beginners and seniors, but can be modified to any fitness level.
Fit Together Chair Class: The instructor will lead you through a basic series of warm-up, strength, balance and cool-down exercises with the assistance of a chair. The is class is for all abilities and modifications are given for each exercise. The Fit Together Chair class is designed specifically for our Fit Together members (Fit Together is a program at Four Seasons that is a collaboration between OSF Health Care meant to deliver safe and effective fitness programming to adults 65+). While the class is designed for our Fit Together members, all members 65+ are welcome to participate. Walk Together: Perform different walking workouts and incorporate warm-up and cool-down exercises. Good weather = walking outside! During cold months we will meet indoors. Please dress appropriately and bring your own water bottle. This program is geared towards Fit Together members, but all adult members are welcome to join! May - October: Thu 9-10 am at FSII. October - April: Thu 9-10 am Indoor Track at FSI.
Movement & Balance: Using specially choreographed, low-intensity cardio movements, dance steps, and a variety of functional exercises, your body will become a more efficient and stable machine! The class has been developed for Fit Together members, but anyone who wants to improve balance and coordination is welcome to attend!
Barre & Balance: This unique class was designed to challenge your strength, mobility and balance. Areas of focus will include posture, feet & ankles, leg strength, & your core by implementing a barre to support your movements.
Dance Together: Using specially choreographed, low-intensity cardio movements, dance steps, and a variety of functional exercises, you will enhance footwork while getting your heart rate up.
Functional Stretching: Feeling stiff? Try Functional Stretching! This class will help you improve joint range of motion, which will help all of your daily activities feel more comfortable to perform. Functional Stretching can also supplement your current work out as a great warm-up or cool-down. All abilities welcome!
Chair Yoga: In Chair Yoga participants will use a chair to assist them with different yoga poses (including standing and seated poses). This class is a great addition to any fitness routine to improve posture, joint range of motion, flexibility and improve your mind/body connection.
Yoga: A gentle and relaxing style of Yoga that focuses on the third stage or Asana (posture). Postures are used primarily as a way to help clear the mind and energize the body. Class participants can improve their health while learning to enjoy complete equilibrium of the body, mind, and spirit.
Tai Chi: Tai Chi uses graceful, flowing movements that are designed to help you find balance, physically and mentally. In this class, you will experience a series of movements that are performed in a slow, focused manner that will in help increase range of motion and reduce stress. The exercises used in this class are low impact and put minimal stress on muscles and joints, making it very safe and welcoming for all ages and fitness levels.
Water Bootcamp: Anything goes in this combo water fitness class! Utilize styles of HIIT, boot camp, boxing, weights, cardio and more for a full body work out!
Aquabata: High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) in the pool. HIIT has become a popular workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity followed by a fixed period of active recovery. There is minimal choreography, but maximum results. This class can be modified for all fitness levels.
Deep H2O: The aqua aerobics class that uses the deep water for more resistance and less stress on your joints. The exercises are easy to do for all fitness levels and can be modified as needed.
Ultimate H2O: An intense session in the water using easy to learn choreographed routines by qualified instructors who want you to have a “splash” while you workout. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels and can be modified as needed. Less stress on your joints, but a lot of fun working out in the pool!
WATERinMOTION®: WATERinMOTION® is the newest aqua exercise workout that provides a low impact, high-energy challenge for participants of all ages, skill and fitness levels. Jump in and make a splash with this dynamic cardiovascular workout that tones and tapers the entire body. With land equivalent intensity, fantastic sing-along quality music, and dynamic instructors, enjoy the pure fun of this 60 minute water extravaganza.
Zumba Gold: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination.
