Holiday Fitness Tips & Tricks

Halloween is a wonderful time of year. Dressing up in fun costumes, passing out candy and getting into the spooky spirit of things is a fun way to celebrate the holiday. However, it’s easy to fall into bad habits among all the candy and fun. An easy way to avoid the countless extra calories is by being calorie conscious and active. Remember that every bite counts, including those extra few pieces of candy you snuck from the bowl. If you want to stave off those extra pounds you can do so by taking long walks or jogs around your neighborhood to enjoy all the spooky decorations.

With the holidays fast approaching, it’s easy to get sidetracked from your fitness goals. With holiday parties, busy travel plans and delicious desserts constantly tempting us, it can be hard to keep up with a regular gym routine.

Here at Four Seasons we know how difficult it can sometimes be to stay motivated among all the festivities. So we have come up with 3 easy ways you can keep yourself motived.

  1. Keep workouts short: We know that this is the busiest time of the year and it can sometimes be hard to find time to hit the gym for the same amount of time you usually would. That’s okay! Schedule short (but challenging!) 30-minute workouts that you can squeeze in every day. By doing so, you create not only a routine of high intensity workouts but you are able to participate in all the fun activities that the holidays have to offer.
  2. Get a workout buddy: Having someone to work out with is the surest way to keep yourself accountable. You have the added bonus of workouts being fun and exciting when you have a friend or family member there to keep you company.
  3. Wake up an hour early: We all know how hard it is to motivate yourself to go to the gym after a long day of work. This is made even more difficult when extra holiday plans are thrown in the mix. A great way to get around this is by setting a morning workout schedule. By waking up an hour early every day, you can get your workout in first thing. You are then able to enjoy the rest of your day without trying to figure out a time to fit in a workout during your busy schedule.

If you’re looking for another way to keep yourself accountable, Four Seasons is holding a 7-week Holiday Survival program. This maintenance program encourages members to get through the holidays by maintaining body fat percentage within 3%. Stop by the front desk to learn more about staying healthy during the holidays!
